| Installation Instructions:
1) Locate a metal stud in the wall directly behind the furniture’s location.* When deciding on a location, take into account the strength of the furniture’s frame in that area. Mark the location of the metal stud about 4" below the top of the furniture. Drill one 3/8" hole into the wall and through center of stud. *Use a stud finder to locate center of stud. Be certain to drill hole as close to the center of the stud as possible. Studs are commonly 16" apart. Insert stud anchor into stud and then place screw through cable eyelet. Insert screw into toggle to engage toggle clamp before turning screw. When stud anchor engages tighten screw. (figure 1)
2) On the rear of the furniture, locate a strong portion of the furniture’s frame where a 1/8” hole can be drilled. Ideally, this should be near the top of the furniture, directly in line with the cable that is now fastened on the wall. Pass the end of the cable through the furniture frame, (figure 2) and pull cable to take up any slack, so the furniture is snug against the wall. There should be less than 2” - 3" of slack between the wall and the furniture piece (figure 4). Fasten the end of the cable through the cable fastener, as in (figure 3). Tighten the screw on the cable fastener with the included hex wrench. Keep the hex wrench in a safe place, as it will be needed to remove the fastener before the furniture can be moved. It is recommended for furniture items over 48" wide that both cable braces and cable fasteners be used. *We use and recommend the Wall Wizard for locating studs. Purchase at wallwizard.com |
